Watch: Rep. Gloria Mendoza delivers keynote commencement speech to the 2025 graduating class of Yakima Valley College
Rep. Gloria Mendoza, R-Grandview, gave the keynote commencement speech to the 2025 graduating class of Yakima Valley College at the Sundome in Yakima on June 13. In her remarks, Mendoza discusses her own personal journey, which began when she was young and came from Mexico. She worked in the Yakima Valley asparagus fields until her late teenage years, eventually attending YVC, and then entered a career in business and public service. Mendoza reminds graduating students that “the Great American Dream is alive and well today,” and that her success serves as an example that it can still be achieved.
