Local legislators to host town hall meetings in Yakima and Toppenish

Local citizens will have an opportunity to meet with their state lawmakers later this month as 14th District Reps. Gloria Mendoza and Deb Manjarrez host in-person town hall meetings in Yakima on Monday, April 27, and Tuesday, April 28 in Toppenish. They will be joined at the Monday evening Yakima event by lawmakers from the neighboring 15th Legislative District, Rep. Chris Corry and Rep. Jeremie Dufault.

The meetings will provide updates on the 2026 legislative session, including the state budget, taxes, agriculture, housing, the drug crisis, public safety, local infrastructure investment, and efforts to support families, farms, and small businesses. Lawmakers will also take questions and hear directly from constituents.

“These town halls are about accountability and accessibility,” said Mendoza, R-Grandview. “We want to report back on the 2026 session that ended March 12 and listen to the people we represent, especially our families, farmers, and small businesses here in the valley.”

Manjarrez, R-Wapato, said the meetings are focused on bringing state government closer to the community.

“People deserve to know how decisions in Olympia affect their daily lives and what we did to support them,” said Manjarrez. “This is a chance to ask questions, share concerns, and have a direct conversation with your lawmakers.”

Corry said he looks forward to participating in the Yakima event.

“I’m excited to join my colleagues for the Yakima town hall and hear directly from residents about the issues that matter most,” said Corry, R-Yakima. “These conversations help shape better policy for our region.”

Dufault, R-Selah, emphasized the importance of community engagement at the Yakima meeting.

“Town halls are one of the best ways to connect with constituents and have meaningful conversations,” said Dufault. “I look forward to being part of the discussion.”
